The first thing that I would check is to make sure your fan is working and that it is working as well as it should. Remember, computers accumulate a lot of dirt and dust over time and this dust can prevent the heat sink and fan from doing their job as effectively as they should. Take a peak inside through the slots (if you can) and see if you have a bunch of dust accumulated. If you have had your laptop for two years or more, there is a good chance it might need a cleaning.
